RE: batteries in the winter
I have a couple collector cars, and for years, all I do is disconnect the positive cable for winter storage in Wisconsin. No charging or special treatment or heated garage. Reconnect them in the spring and crank em up. Never a problem and those batteries last for years and years.
My fifth wheel has solar, so it all stays connected year round.

Poli Strip, Poli Prep, Poli Ox, I bought it all. Watched YouTube videos, followed directions...Looks ok for awhile when not in direct sunlight,but not what I expected.

I've been using Poli Glow for about 3 years, and I'm disappointed. In some areas it flakes off, especially after heavy rain and have to reapply a couple times a year. I also get uneven coverage (streaky) when looking at it against direct sunlight. I have big patches of flaking right now. Looks horrible.

RE: Bedroom cable slide is jerking
The money is on a failed gearbox attached to the motor. All 3 of mine have failed. Should be a sticker on it with the part number, probably R25076. If it is, Dyersrv.com or Amazon. Replacement part is R25076-1. Easy job if you can turn a wrench, just mark cables so you return them to the same spot.

You need to air it up to 100psi overnight then do your adjustment after hitching. Give it a try, worked for me.
That's interesting, and I'll try to remember that, although before hitching I air mine up to about 70 lbs, then after hitching up I drop the pressure until the shock is just above mid stroke, usually around 65 lbs. I almost never have to add more pressure during a trip, even when it's a couple of months.

RE: 2014 3100RL Montana with a Demco Autoslide hitch Problems
I have that hitch together with the Trailair AirRide pinbox. One thing that Demco says is to hitch up with the pinbox slightly lower than the hitch's saddle and let the pinbox ride up onto the hitch as you back up. Never any problem.
As far as the safety pin goes, yes when the jaws snap closed, I usually have to pull the handle back out maybe 1/16" for the pin holes to line up. The jaws remain fully closed. I have 65,000 miles with this hitch with probably over 200 hitching and unhitching cycles.

I've had an AirRide for 4 years. Hitching and unhitching is fine, just a little different cuz it can pivot vs being a solid piece. One of the best upgrades I've made.

Living in Milwaukee, going through Chicago is a PITA. In the past we have gotten up super early so that it's mostly semis going through there at 5AM. But lately I've found that hitting Chicago late morning is not too bad at all. As mentioned above, 294 is the way to go. Or take 39 to 90 at Rockford.

It is not pulling the thing, it is the stopping the thing.
Sooner, rather than later, there will be that split second situation when you will wish that you had a whole lot more truck. Some car will brake suddenly infront of you. You will go into an exit too fast. 16,000lbs of trailer will want to overtake a way too small truck. It won't be pretty.
I would say it a bit differently. Sure it can tow it, BUT can it HANDLE it in a panic lane change just for one example. The answer is NO.
This brings up something I've been wondering about. I like the idea of my truck being heavier than the trailer (fifth wheel), so the tail is not wagging the dog. Is the Pin weight considered part of the truck or part of the trailer? Here, I'll give you my latest Cat Scale numbers.
Truck front 5180, rear 6900, total truck hitched up 12,080. Trailer axles 9380.
My pin weight is 2700.
Now unhitched weights are truck 9380, trailer 12,080.
So, physics guys, hitched up there's more weight on the truck axles, but which vehicle does the pin weight actually belong to in a panic maneuver.
I'm guessing it belongs to the trailer.

Our rig has an island with room inside of it for one trash can, but we also recycle. The island has a deepish overhang on one side and after much searching for something skinny, found a Rubbermaid covered can about 7x18 (est.) that holds a 13 gallon bag.

Why go non ducted? When we're in the living area, we run the bedroom A/C (13.5k ducted) with the door closed. Way quieter. If we need it when sleeping, we run the other one (15k). We normally only run both for initial cool down. Ours are both Dometic Brisk II and the bedroom unit has the thermostat in hallway.

I bought a Champion generator from Costco and it leaked fuel all over the floor. I could not stop it from leaking, so I returned it and bought a used Honda 2000i for less than the cost of this one. You buy cheap you get cheap.
Sure, bad luck for you I guess. I also have a 3100 Champion inverter that I bought in 2018 that's been fine, but I got tired of storing gas while on the road, and also dealing with the weight. Two of these combined is less than that one. I plan on using propane only.

That's a very good deal. In April I bought 2 of those exact same models on sale from a regional store here called Blaine's Farm and Fleet for $399 each. At the time, it was the best deal in the country.

My in-store receipt says otherwise. I actually emailed Marcus because the in-store member price was $3 higher than the online price.
Member discounts are still in effect in store. Online discounts are not.
Many times the online price is lower than in the store. If the difference is substantial, I show it to the clerk, and they always give me the lower price (unless it says online only).

I always looked at it as the member price was the real price, and the nonmember price was to motivate people to join.
Another huge disincentive for me is this year's campground directory. It used to contain many monthly general discount coupons. I got a lot of great deals with them and shopped there often. Not any more, I think there is only one. The remaining coupons are for specific items (for example grills or camp chairs).
It seems like the only benefit now is Goodsam campground discounts.

In early 2018, I bought a Champion 3100/2800 gas only inverter generator. It's done a good enough job, though not as quiet as a Honda. This year I got tired of dealing with having gas around, especially the storage of it on the road, and found a great deal on the Champion 2500 dual fuel. So I just bought 2 of them along with a parallel kit. Weight was a factor also: 37 lbs vs 95 lbs. I intend to only use propane. They were $399 each and probably would only need the second one for A/C.
They are still in the boxes, will try them out soon.
I hope that they are quieter than the 3100

RE: Which screw to calibrate the oven temp?
I screwed an oven thermometer to the inside of the oven door. I usually have to set the control knob for 50-75 degrees higher. In other words, to get the oven thermometer to reach 350,I set the knob to 425. Open the door quick, no bending down, easy to read. Works for me! Just attach it where it won't interfere with the rack.
